Framework
The Nutropic framework for choosing the right cognitive pattern between human and AI
The Nutropic framework names the right ways for humans and AI to work together. It is organised around four cognitive patterns, the aspects that distinguish them, the methodology for putting them into practice, and the orchestration disciplines (orchestration, governance and adoption) that hold them together.
Overview
A framework as Nutropic's load-bearing intellectual property
- Nutropic publishes a framework rather than a tool. A framework names the structure of the work, gives practitioners a shared vocabulary for the decisions that matter, and supplies the disciplines that turn the vocabulary into action. Tools age out as the underlying technology shifts; a framework keeps holding once the vocabulary it contributes has entered the practice.
- Publishing in framework form is a deliberate commitment. The framework is written down in full, taught the same way to every client, and revised in public when the field forces an update rather than quietly inside the practice. The consulting Nutropic offers is only worth what the framework underneath it is, and that bargain is what the published form is for.
- The framework covers the territory of working seriously with AI: the cognitive shape of the work, the disciplines that hold adoption together, and the reference material practitioners need when the work meets its first awkward case at the seam between strategy and execution.

Anatomy names what AI work looks like structurally: the four cognitive patterns, the six aspects that decompose each pattern, the eight phases that decompose any unit of cognitive work, and the workflow as the unit at which the framework is applied.

Disciplines covers what practitioners do with the framework: commit to a strategy, assess readiness, run pilots and apply engineering standards to AI in production.

Methodology covers the procedural layer of the framework: the eight engagement stages, the workflow mapping discipline that runs across them, the selection logic that chooses a pattern for each workflow, and the artefact catalogue an engagement produces.

Orchestration covers the institutional disciplines that operate across all four cognitive patterns: governance (accountability and oversight) and adoption (the framework's stance on humans, work and AI).
