Overview
Four concerns the methodology layer holds
- The methodology layer sits between the structural vocabulary in Anatomy and the institutional practice in Orchestration. It is where the framework meets the working week of an engagement, and where the four concerns of running an engagement become recognisable as a set.
- Stages name the eight-step shape every engagement passes through, from Frame to Handoff. Mapping is the cross-stage discipline that produces the artefact pattern allocation operates against. Selection is the procedural act of choosing a pattern for each mapped workflow, with explicit reasoning recorded.
- Tools is the catalogue of artefacts an engagement produces along the way (charters, mandates, specifications, decision records). Together the four concerns describe how the framework is run, distinct from what the framework is structurally and from how it is governed at the institutional level.

Mapping
Mapping is the discipline that produces the artefact pattern allocation runs against. Two modes apply: mapping for cognition and mapping for specification. Each pattern needs them in a different mix.

Selection
Pattern selection is the procedural act of choosing one of the four cognitive patterns for a mapped workflow, with explicit reasoning recorded. The framework names the diagnostic signals, the four selection paths and the antipatterns selection routinely produces.

Tools
The catalogue of artefacts an engagement produces: charters, briefs, mandates, specifications, decision records, evaluation suites and the diagnostic instruments that earn the framework its keep in production.
